Pteridophytes exhibit awesome and incredible diversities in distribution, habitat, morphology, cytology, anatomy, reproduction and chemical composition. The Pteridophyte system is simple and easy to manipulate. Their genome is very plastic. They have been long known as sources of Medicine. Many ailments and diseases are supposedly treatable by a variety of Pteridophytes and they are also believed to be useful for strengthening the blood, urinary system and bowels. Pteridophyte studies are very limited globally. Extant Pteridophytes are the result of thousands of years of Natural Selection and Evolution. They are often good climate-indicators with precise ecological requirements and represent different phyto-geographical elements. They find use in phytoremediation and several other biotechnological applications. The presentation will be on season independent system of in-vitro propagation for natural biomedicines, DNA barcoding, phytoremediation and abiotic stress tolerance in ferns.
