"Bonding, Reactivity, and Photophysics of some Ruthenium and Osmium Complexes"

Our group has initiated a program to study the coordination chemistry, reactivity, and photophysics of low-valent ruthenium and osmium complexes. In this seminar, we will present our findings on the following studies:
(1) Reactivity of nitrosonium ion (NO⁺) towards a ruthenium–aryl bond;
(2) Assigning oxidation state to ruthenium complexes bearing nitrosoarene–pyridine hybrid ligands;
(3) Structural determination of ruthenium-alkoxycarbene complexes supported by salen-type ligands;
(4) Isolation of ruthenium–indolizine complexes and its insight into metal-induced cycloisomerization of propargylic pyridines;
(5) Photophysical studies on ruthenium- and osmium-bipyridine complexes with N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)-based pincer ligand.
